It’s been a while since I posted a wedding blog and I’m delighted to finally find a second to get this gorgeous wedding online today.
Steph and Marc met through work in 2007 and whilst working, through nights out and whilst lift sharing with other colleagues they quietly sussed one another out…or atleast thought they did! It turned out that their initial perception of one another was pretty far off(!) but in time, they found themselves agreeing to go on a date together. I love that even though they both felt a little worse for wear, they made it through an evening at the cinema and a slightly awkward first kiss to get to the wonderful place where they are today – sharing their lives together.
They married on a glorious day in April at the Sandbanks Hotel in Poole and it honestly could not have been more perfect in any way! It’s always wonderful when you reconnect with an old friend but when you reconnect and are given the huge privilege of photographing that friends wedding, it’s even more special.
Whilst the girls got ready in a light, airy, suite (fuelled by nibbles and champagne!) the boys congregated for drinks and photo’s on the beach – the atmosphere was buzzing and the laughter infectious. I love capturing the details of the girls getting ready but it’s always lovely when couples get ready in the same place as it affords me the luxury of having a few minutes with the groom too! The bonus is that this way, I get to report back to the bride about what he’s doing, how he looks and whether he’s nervous or not!
The ceremony was beautiful and surrounded by their nearest and dearest, they married under an arch of seashells and driftwood. When the ceremony was over, everyone spilled out onto the sun-drenched terrace for drinks and congratulatory hugs and with the sound of the sea and the sun beating down, we really could have been on tropical shores. We spent time mingling with the crowd to capture some of the more natural, documentary style, images before spending a little time with Steph and Marc on their own. I always love this part of the day, it’s such a great chance for the Bride and Groom to have some quiet time alone and I love capturing those romantic cuddles and quiet loving looks. What made my day even more fabulous was that we had a gorgeous sunset and were able to get some shots on the seafront in the most beautiful evening light! With our shoes full of sand and the breeze in our hair, no-one could stop grinning!
Watching these newly-weds together was nothing short of magical, they just seem so perfect together and so in love… I’m so pleased that we were able to be part of this amazing day.
