Pre-Wedding Photography: Winkworth Arboretum, Godalming – Nicola & Josh

I first heard from Nicola in February of last year, having only just had a baby I was only really just learning how hard it was going to be to juggle a baby, work and ‘normal’ life.  I liked Nicola and Josh from the moment I met them, partly because a couple that can talk wedding photography with a new mum as she tries to breast-feed her fidget-bum baby (I couldn’t help but be distracted and kept losing my train of thought) are definitely OK in my book…it also helped that they are,simply, one of the lovliest couples you could ever hope to meet.

When I heard back from Nicola that they wanted me to photograph their big day I think I did a little jig around my living room, well, how could I not?  All throughout my pregnancy I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of a mother I would be, how I’d cope with the night feeds and how Mr.C and I would adjust – all normal pre-baby nerves!  At night though, when I couldn’t sleep, I would find myself thinking ‘How will I manage my business’, ‘will couples still have the confidence to book me now that I have another main focus in my life’ and finally, ‘can I be a Mummy AND a photographer without neglecting one or the other?’   What Nicola and Josh didn’t realise, was that by booking me to photograph their day, they had thrown all my doubts out of the window and had restored my faith in myself; I will always be grateful.

So, here we are a year later…we met a couple of weeks ago at Winkworth Arboretum for their pre-wedding shoot.  Just that morning, the snow in Fareham had melted to grey slush  and it was drizzling…it was only as we drove up the A3 and passed a very snowy Butser Hill that I dared to hope that we might have a snowy photo shoot.  Well…I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting!

For a couple that, in their own words, were “a bit nervous about the romantic shots,” I think they look fantastic…every bit the bride and groom to be!  Thank you, guys, for freezing yourselves silly and not being afraid to throw yourselves into it.  I really CAN’T WAIT to photograph your day.
