Between the ages of about 7 and 10 Gemma and I saw each other ALL the time! We were buddies at primary school, team-mates on the netball team and co-contributors at school concerts – we had a blast. Then we went off to secondary school and it wasn’t until some (!?) years later, that Facebook brought us back together!
In January of this year, Gemma and I met up over a late afternoon drink, we talked weddings, discussed what we’d been up to since Primary School (rather a lot it turns out!) and I had the pleasure of meeting her fiance, Tom. Needless to say, I was thrilled when they asked me to document their big day later this year.
This Easter, I popped over to the Isle of Wight (my absolute favourite place in the world!) with Mr.C and George for a few days holiday. In between day trips, visiting my Granny and enjoying lots of lovely meals we met up again with Gemma and Tom who, by a happy stroke of luck, were on the Isle of Wight too! We settled on a pre-wedding session at Newtown (near Newport) a gorgeous little spot where Tom spent much of his childhood and where he and Gemma enjoy down-time from their busy London lives.
The weather was, incredibly, on our side and after a quick catch up at a nearby pub, we headed for the nature reserve where we took a lovely stroll through fields and out onto the stunning jetty. Surrounded by gorgeous views and with nothing but the sound of seagulls and the smell of the sea filling our senses, I could see why these guys had fallen in love with this place.
It’s always wonderful catching up with an old friend and even lovelier when you get to meet the special person in their life but for me, the best thing was seeing them so happy and relaxed together. Needless to say, I’m ridiculously excited to photograph their day later this summer at the stunning Trafalgar Park near Salisbury.
Here are a few images from their pre-wedding session!
