Lydia and Alex wed at East Horton Golf Club last month. Their vision, for a relaxed day with an unconventional take on tradition, worked perfectly!
For starters, they went for lunch with their family before the wedding. Yes, I mean that Lydia and Alex – together – went for lunch with their family…on their wedding day; I’ve never known two people to be so relaxed! After lunch, they went their separate ways whilst they got ready and Lydia arrived back at home to find us on the doorstep…she casually strolled into the house, offered us drinks and then continued to play with her nephew! It was only about half an hour before she had to leave the house that she said “So, I suppose I’d better put my dress on then?” I was astonished! This couldn’t be further from how I was on my big day as I frantically checked the clock every 10 minutes (….and still managed to be half an hour late!!!) I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t both amazed and impressed!!
These guys decided to make the most of the available winter light, by meeting before the ceremony for their bridal portraits… I found this shake up on tradition really refreshing! Not only did I feel privileged to witness them seeing each other away from the eyes of all their guests but it was great not to have to worry about stealing them away from friends and family just after the ceremony. Instead, we enjoyed a very relaxed, slightly muddy and totally freezing(!!!!!!) photo shoot on the golf course.
From the family lunch, early evening ceremony and the funky bridal shoes, this wedding was perfectly tailored to be the magical day that Lydia and Alex had imagined…and all arranged in the record time of just a couple of months. I really do take my hat off to you both!!
Thank you, for allowing us to be part of your beautiful day, we wish you all the happiness in the world.
